Faith Anderson
Learning Disability Nurse, Chestnut Tree House, Arundel
I currently work in a team of learning disability, paediatric and adult nurses in an 8-bed hospice offering short breaks, symptom management and end of life care to children and young people aged 0-18. These children and young people have a range of conditions often co-morbid with learning disabilities.
I am hoping this fellowship will enable me to develop and integrate hospice services further within the wider community, bringing increased opportunity for access to and information about our services for children with a learning disability and life limiting conditions and their families. I am also keen to improve the communication between health cand care agencies and the sharing of information. There may also be an opportunity to go on to develop training to be offered both internally and externally, and I believe the fellowship will help me in developing my skills to facilitate this. I am looking to develop my role in the hospice into a specialist post and from there to create a learning disability specific focus group/team to inspire change throughout the service and beyond.
