Jennifer Campbell

Community Learning Disability Nurse, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust

My first job as a qualified learning disability nurse was within a specialist care home for people with learning disabilities and mental health. My current role as a community learning disability nurse is more challenging and rewarding than I had imagined. it is evident that people with learning disabilities continue to experience difficulties in accessing adequate healthcare and support. I feel this programme will benefit my knowledge and confidence with the management of issues that may crop up not only with my caseload but also with that of my colleagues who I hopefully will be able to support more.

I am eager to develop my knowledge and skills particularly in leadership. I am keen to raise awareness around providing person-centred care for people on my caseload however I recognise that this is something that wil be ongoing through my career. I am also looking forward to sharing what I learn with colleagues.
