Eleanor Rusk

Staff Nurse, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Rampton Hospital

My current role is based within the national high secure learning disability service and within that, I am based on a ward that provides both enhanced and specialist support for autistic patients. the care provided here is shaped not only by the nursing team but also the frequent involvement of a large MDT in order to endure holistic support is provided. In addition to providing support to patients and staff on the ward. I am involved in coordinating care as named nurse, attending regular reviews and meetings, and supporting patients with complex care requirements to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing.

I firmly believe in the values of person-centred care and am keen to develop my understanding of how to implement effective leadership in order to integrate this further into a secure forensic setting, with the aim of improving patient experience and engagement. I am also keen to address the considerable health and social inequalities experienced by this unique patient group, who often experience notable challenges in having their requirements met and believe that developing my skills, and therefore confidence, in leadership will be crucial in working towards this.
