FoNS is delighted to announce that the 2021 Richard Tompkins Scholarships have been awarded to Elizabeth Christie and Titilayo Babatunde (left to right: Titilayo, 2019 winner Kellie Owen and Lizzie).

The panel was exceptionally impressed by the high calibre of all applicants this year, which made the shortlisting and interviewing process a very hard one. However, it has been wonderful to be able to award two scholarships for this forthcoming year.

Elizabeth, who is a neurodevelopmental nurse specialist/independent nurse prescriber, is currently working in Hampshire Children and Adolescent Mental Health services.

On accepting the opportunity, Elizabeth said: ‘I am beyond thrilled to accept the offer of this scholarship. I am excited to experience a new challenge and looking forward to sharing my experiences and learning with the children and families I work with and the Hampshire CAMHS. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity.’

Titilayo, who is a health visitor team co-ordinator based in Hackney, said: To be awarded the FoNS scholarship at a time when I was looking for an opportunity to make a remarkable contribution to the service which I have worked hard for the past 25years. So, this has given me such a huge honour to be part of a wonderful organisation and bring back so much for the health visiting service. I sincerely cannot wait to attend the training and be part of the ongoing mentorship support.’

Elizabeth and Titilayo are highly experienced nurses, both of whom exude passion, drive, and commitment within their field of practice. We are looking forward to working with them both and in supporting them along their scholarship journey.
