Kirk Linkin
Staff Nurse, Rampton Hospital, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
I am a learning disability nurse working as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team providing specialist for people with a learning disability. My work includes working with vulnerable adults with a learning disability providing clinical support to access health and social care services, care planning and interventions. I work closely in collaboration with other nurses and professionals to facilitate and assess the care needs of referred/ allocated caseloads to ensure delivery of the most appropriate care and support in a holistic and person-centred approach.
My role also includes advocating and helping and advising around reasonable adjustments to access healthcare appointments, enhance independence and promote equality for the service users.
The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented level of change with positive and negative effects in practice. With this challenge, and through the fellowship and supporting programme, I intend to build on my reflective skills to enhance the development of my confidence, increase awareness of my leadership and management skills towards effective and quality practice for the benefit of service suers, families/carers, the public and colleagues. As a dual qualified practitioner, I am looking forward to exploring ways collaboration between the social work and RNLD roles.
