A CAMHS clinical in-patient team leader development and support programme
The Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) is delighted to be working with NHS E/I to deliver an exciting development opportunity for clinical leaders working within Children and Adolescent Mental Health in-patient services.
Structured around the FoNS Creating Caring Cultures, the aim of the programme is to enable clinical leaders to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in leading and facilitating the development of person-centred cultures of care, by engaging and inspiring their teams through role modelling and collaboration, inclusion and participation. In person-centred cultures, the focus is on all individuals and relationships. Persons who use services and their families will experience effective, compassionate and safe care that is centred on their needs; and staff will feel valued and are more able to take responsibility for what happens in practice.
This programme offers participants a unique opportunity for personal and professional development through protected time away from the workplace. Participants benefit from the opportunity to network, share and to learn with and from their peers, in a co-created safe and supported learning environment. Drawing upon their experiences from practice, supported by theoretical frameworks and practical tools, participants are able to ignite a vision for supporting and leading their teams for the future.
A little bit of feedback
Working more clinically to help nurses with everyday decision making and creating more learning opportunities from practice. Introduced more discussion about decision making into the safety huddle.
Perspective on making changes has changed. So bogged down by pressure before but made me go back to basics, “why am I doing it, how can I do it including everyone else?” More person-centred approach now. Confidence increased, a lot more in control of how I approach it.
Learnt to enjoy the journey and celebrate successes along the way. Slower and more sustained. Not just seeing but observing and learning other perspectives. More meaningful. Having values-based conversations with people. Definitely grown in confidence to do these.
