Shama Ahmed

Working in the community as a learning disability nurse, I support individuals with learning disabilities in the community to meet their needs and prevent them from going into hospital. My role involves working closely within an integrated team addressing the health needs of individuals.

This programme will be the beginning of my leadership journey. I am hoping to gain further leadership skills to support my further career progress and enable me to be the best version of a learning disability nurse that I can. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and experience and learning new methods and approaches to ensure more person-centred and high quality care.  This programme will create opportunities and space for reflection, which is not always prioritised.

Additionally, this programme will benefit my patients and team as I will have an expanded and possibly new approach to decision making and carrying out tasks to ensure high quality care.
